Let us first read the allegation by the enemies of Promised Messiah:
Mirza Ghulam's father in law, Mir Nasir Nawab, recorded in his autobiography:
"The night his holiness fell ill, I was sleeping in my room. When his illness grew severe, they woke me up. I went over to his holiness and found him in great pain. He addressed me saying: 'I have been stricken with cholera.' After this, he did not utter a single intelligible and coherent word till he died on Monday, after ten O'clock in the morning."
(Hayat-i-Nasir, P. 14)
Mirza Ghulam used to say that cholera or plague is the sign of Allah(SWT)'s wrath on mankind for their wrong doing! It is fitting that his last words were the admission that he had been stricken with the disease he was so fearful of.
Response to the Allegation:
Let me first give the readers a little background on the book Hayat-i-Nasir, since the opponents of Promised Messiah (AS) can not be just trusted on their word.
1. Book Hayat-i-Nasir (Life of Nasir) is NOT an autobiography of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab, rather biography compiled by Hadhrat Yaqoob Ali Irfaani (RA).
2. This biography on the life of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab (RA) was written in 1927; three years AFTER the death of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab, and around 20 years after the death of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (AS); Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi.
3. Any quote that was associated with Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab could not be thus verified for omission of facts, background or context.
Let me now translate the quoted words of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab correctly for the benefit of readers since it is a habit of Mullahs to omit important words for their evil intentions.
"The night Hadhrat Sahib (Promised Messiah) fell ill, I had gone in my room to sleep. As soon as his illness grew severe, I was woken up. When I went to Hadhrat Sahib and saw his condition, he addressed me saying "I am suffering from cholera/Am I suffering from cholera". He did not say anything clear after that I THINK until he passed away around 10am next morning."
Notice the omission of words "I think" from the original quote by the enemies.
Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab was looking after Promised Messiah in his illness. So Promised Messiah addressed him knowing that he was looking after him in his illness and was in direct communication with his physicians. It is a common way of speech in Urdu where word "Kia" is not used before a sentence in order to turn it into a question. Promised Messiah was making an enquiry, not a statement.
Opponents of Promised Messiah take this one line from a book written 20 years after the passing away of Promised Messiah and 3 years after the death of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab to draw non-factual conclusions for their evil agendas.

Major Dr. Sutherland; Principal Medical College Lahore, was Promised Messiah's physician in his last days. He issued a certificate confirming that his death was NOT caused by cholera rather it was due to the weakness caused by diarrhoea. All the physicians around him were in complete agreement with Dr. Sutherland's diagnosis. Dr. Cunningham; Civil Surgeon Lahore, thus signed that certificate of Dr. Sutherland to testify the authenticity of his diagnosis.
Some enemies of Promised Messiah for the purpose of causing mischief, went to the manager of Lahore train station and said to him that the death was caused due to cholera, so it must not be allowed to be transported to Qadian. It was in those days, by law of the country forbidden for a dead body to be transported to a different city if the death was caused by cholera. Station manager on hearing this refused to allow the body to be transported. This is when Hadhrat Shaikh Rahmatullah (RA) showed surgeon's certificate to the manager, who then approved the body to be shifted to Qadian. The whole incident is recorded in "Taareekh-e-Ahmadiyyat vol. 3, pg. 562".
Conclusion:
Enemies of Promised Messiah (AS) are only following the age old traditions of enemies of past prophets in every aspect of their opposition. Their claim that Promised Messiah (AS) died an accursed death is no different. History stands witness to the fact that enemies of Jesus (AS) to this day accuse him of dying an accursed death. Even the enemies of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) accuse him of dying an accursed death as a result of poisoning. It hurts us greatly as followers of Promised Messiah to see our opponents using vile, abusive and slanderous language towards Promised Messiah. We however also understand that it is due to their utter frustration that they resort to such means. We leave the matters to our Allah.
I would like to end this answer in the words of Hadhrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad (RA) who records some final moments of the life of Promised Messiah (AS) in this world. He says:
"We could only hear these three words from the lips of Promised Messiah in his last moments:
Allah meray pyaray Allah
Translation: Allah, my beloved Allah.
We could hear nothing else from his lips.
When the time of Fajr prayer came I was standing next to Promised Messiah. He said in a weak voice:
Kia Namaaz kaa waqt ho gaya hay?
Translation: Has the time of prayer come?
One servant replied, yes Hazoor, time of prayer has come. He performed Tayyammum on hearing this and made the intention of prayer. He fell unconscious at this moment. On retaining consciousness, he again enquired: Has the time of prayer come? He performed tayyammum again and offered prayer on bed on hearing that the time of prayer had come.
Whenever he retained conciousness after that, he would repeat these words:
Allah meray pyaray Allah
Translation: Allah my beloved Allah
Hazoor took two deep breaths at around 10:30am and his soul departed from its temporary abode to the permanent one and presented itself to its Beloved.
Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayehe Rajeoon (To Allah we belong and to Him is our return)" (Silsila-e-Ahmadiyya, pg. 183-184)
