KHALA JAAN ---- FIRST DEATH ANNIVERSARY---- APRIL 8, 2013

Sometimes I wonder how so many qualities could be present in an individual as there were in Khala Jaan; Amatul Hafeez Khanum sahiba. Let’s think of different traits an ideal Ahmadi Muslim woman ought to have! Some of these qualities are as under:
  • Love of Allah, His Prophet Muhammad, the Promised Messiah and the blessed Khulafa
  • Due respect for the members of the Promised Messiah’s family
  • Thirst for religious knowledge
  • Passion for tableegh
  • Serving jama’at with devotion
  • Observance of purdah
  • Sincere efforts for tarbiyyat and education of one’s children
  • Looking after the comfort of one’s husband and children
  • Fulfilling one’s responsibilities towards relatives and others
  • Strengthening relationships and not breaking them or creating discords
  • Loving all and nurturing rancour and malice towards none
  • Humility with dignity
  • Kindness towards the poor
  • Hospitality
  • Looking after one’s own health and moral, intellectual and spiritual growth
  • Patience and perseverance
  • Facing hard times with dignity and prayers
The list is long and unending. Khala jaan possessed these qualities and many more. She developed these traits with vigour and sincerity. She really was embodiment of a true ideal sincere Ahmadi lady. She provided an excellent role model for her family and all those who came into contact with her. This is marvellous.

Nevertheless she could nurture and promote her interests and develop her personality with active support and cooperation of her husband (chacha jaan). The two led a successful married life spread over half a century. They were blessed with eight children who all turned into true and sincere devoted ahmadis. Khala jaan spent most part of her life in Quetta. She would move around in Quetta to pursue Lajna activities. When she was out for jama’at work, she would properly arrange for food and other requirements of her husband and children in her absence. But even if there was some delay or any other problem sometime, the husband would willingly and smilingly accept any difficulty and would not complain. She moved to Lahore in early ninetees. In Lahore Khala jaan could go around for Lajna work and social visits to relatives and acquaintances with the support and cooperation of her husband who would always most willingly provide her with ride in his little FX Suzuki.

Chacha jaan was a decent noble person. He was soft spoken. He was fond of tableegh. He was also happy in the company of friends. He visited friends and welcomed guests. This trait was common in both husband and wife. So they were an ideal couple.

Khala jaan was one of those fortunate souls whose funeral prayer was led by Hazrat Amirul Momineen Khalifatul Masih, the Fifth (ayedAllah) after Friday prayers. In his Friday sermon dated 13th April, 2013 Hazoor comprehensively spoke about her qualities and prayed for her and her children. Following is the link to the sermon in which Hazoor mentioned her. Her mention starts at 46.55 in the timeline of the video:

For the purposes of dua and to follow instructions of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to fondly remember one’s deceased dear ones, I write down some reminisces from my personal experience.

While looking back over 36 years of association as her son-in-law, I see her personality as a combination of religious knowledge and practices and of fulfilment of essential worldly obligations and requirements. Nevertheless her preference was for religion and its needs. She strictly followed the principle laid down by the Promised Messiah allehisalam that religion has priority over worldly matters. Her knowledge of religious matters was deep. She had derived this knowledge from original sources of Quran, Ahadeeth, writings of the Promised Messiah and speeches and sermons of blessed khulafa. She did not just acquire knowledge. She practised what she learnt and she propagated what she thought was the best. She was the central figure in her close family as well as in the larger family. She had a large family to look after. It sometimes surprised me how she could fulfil all her obligations both spiritual and temporal with equal zeal and fervour.

It was treat to see her worshipping her Creator. Her regularity and consistency in saying both obligatory and voluntary prayers was phenomenal. No reason whatsoever would deter her from offering her prayers on time and with due dedication. Even when guests were there and it was time for some namaz, she would just slip and go to some room to say her prayers. She would always prefer to say prayers with proper ablution and to stand while praying, even in her old age and during illness. It was her fear of Allah that compelled her not to adopt easy course on flimsy grounds. In old age and due to back problem, she could not prostrate, so she would make proper arrangement over a chair placed in front of her to offer prayers and do sijda. She would place a pillow and prayer mat on the chair and would try to prostrate as far as possible. She was all the time reminding her children to be regular in saying prayers in time and in congregation. She would love to go to mosque for Jumma prayers as far as it was possible. While in Quetta there was no problem in going to mosque for Friday prayers because the mosque (now long ago sealed by Government under pressure from Mullahs) was just near her house. But since she moved to Lahore in in early ninetees, she would go for Jumma prayers whenever someone could take her in car. A day before her death on April 8, 2013, she went on wheel chair for Jumma prayers at Baitul Fatuh mosque in London when only a day earlier she had been discharged from hospital having been admitted there for a number of days. She was very regular in Tahajjud prayer. She had a long list of prayers. She would pray for jama’at, for Hazoor and near and dear ones and far relatives and friends and acquaintances live or dead and anyone who had requested her for prayers. Apart from obligatory Ramazan fasts she would also often offer voluntary, nafl fasts. If she alone was fasting in the house, she would not prepare any extraordinary thing for iftar. But when others were also fasting, more dishes were prepared for iftari.

Her love for Quran was extraordinary. She remembered a large part of Quran by heart. She read Quran with translation and with tafseer. She was also fond of imparting knowledge about reading and understanding the Holy Book. Charity begins at home. She would teach Quran to children at home. But she would also encourage others to come to her to learn Quran. She would be more than willing to go to houses of others, if so required, so as to impart knowledge of Quran. In Lajna meetings she would teach Quran and would be happy to do that. Very many ladies still meet her daughters and tell them they had learnt Quran from Khala jee. She also remembered a lot many prayers from Quran and ahadeeth and from the Promised Messiah. He also remembered over 70 verses from Qaseedah compliled by Hazrat Masihe Maood allisalam.

I remember well her fondness and regularity in listening to the Friday sermon of Hazrat Khalifatul Masih on MTA. She would bring forth her chair at the time of Khutba and would listen to it and would require of everyone in the house to listen to khutba.

She remembered a lot of instructions given by Hazrat Khalifatul Masih, the Second raziAllah anho and would try to follow them. Two of such instructions are promotion of Urdu in our homes and regularly reading last two rukus of Bani Israel.

She was fond of reading Quran and various jama’at books. She would regularly read Quran. I found that almost always, a book would be under her study. She would keep it on the side table or under her pillow and would read it whenever possible during the day. She would regularly read Daily Al-Fazl.

She fervently loved Hazrat Khalifatul Masih. Hazoor mentioned about this trait specifically in his khutba and said that he had himself witnessed her enthusiasm and love for khilafat. Hazoor also said that she had inculcated the same spirit in her children. May this quality ever grow in her children and generations.

Whenever in Rabwah, she would make it a point to visit the noble ladies of the family of the Promised Messiah allehisalam. This included Hazrat Ummul Momineen raziAllah anha, Hazrat Nawab Mubaraka Begum Sahiba raziAllah anha, Hazrat Nawab Amtul Hafeez Begum Sahiba razi Allah anha and the wives and daughters of Hazrat Muslehe Maood raziAllah anho. She would take her daughters with her so as to be blessed and would regularly request these blessed ladies for prayers.

She had passion for tableegh. She gave message of Ahmadiyyat to whomsoever she could. During her last days, she was admitted in hospitals in U.K. In her broken English, she would preach Islamic teachings to nurses and doctors.

She worked for jama’at Lajna work always. She was eager to impart knowledge to whomsoever she could. She would give best advice to anyone who came into contact with her. She was well-wisher of all. She was fond of visiting relatives and friends and would welcome guests at her home. The guests were served properly within means. She would offer whatever was available in the house. She did not believe in much of formalities. Simplicity was her trait. She was also very particular about purdah and would advise others too about the same.

She faced sufferings in life. She faced them with courage, patience and dignity. Her life partner died after a short illness in 2003. Dr. Mubeenul Haq Khan was his dear son. He was the eldest and the ablest. He was a gem of a man, darling of everyone in the family. His love for his parents and brothers and sisters and all relatives was phenomenal. He was a person who cannot be forgotten. His death in the year 2006, at the age of 52, was a great tragedy in the family. Khala jaan was in shock but she faced the tragedies in her old age with courage and patience. She loved Allah a lot. These tragedies all the more brought her nearer to Allah and she would spend most of her time in worshipping the Lord.

She had special love for the poor. Poor ladies and servants felt comfortable in her company. They would discuss their problems with her and she would try to redress their grievances as far as she could.

She carried out her daily household activities like cooking etc. with vigour. She also looked after her own health. She would do exercise regularly and would walk in the nearby park early in the morning.

She was a noble lady. The world would be a better place if most people were like her. But probably really sincere and good people are not in abundance.

May her soul rest in eternal peace. May her status always rise in Paradise. May her children and generations also tread on her foot-steps. Her ways were not easy. But then life is not easy. It is with Allah’s fazal alone that one can lead life like that of ideal people , as was Khala jaan”!

From Allah we have come and to Him we would return!

Death of Promised Messiah; Statement of Mir Nasir Nawab sb. (Father in law of Promised Messiah)

Let us first read the allegation by the enemies of Promised Messiah:

Mirza Ghulam's father in law, Mir Nasir Nawab, recorded in his autobiography:
"The night his holiness fell ill, I was sleeping in my room.  When his illness grew severe, they woke me up.  I went over to his holiness and found him in great pain.  He addressed me saying: 'I have been stricken with cholera.'  After this, he did not utter a single intelligible and coherent word till he died on Monday, after ten O'clock in the morning."
    (Hayat-i-Nasir, P. 14)
Mirza Ghulam used to say that cholera or plague is the sign of Allah(SWT)'s wrath on mankind for their wrong doing!  It is fitting that his last words were the admission that he had been stricken with the disease he was so fearful of.

Response to the Allegation:

Let me first give the readers a little background on the book Hayat-i-Nasir, since the opponents of Promised Messiah (AS) can not be just trusted on their word.

1. Book Hayat-i-Nasir (Life of Nasir) is NOT an autobiography of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab, rather biography compiled by Hadhrat Yaqoob Ali Irfaani (RA).

2. This biography on the life of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab (RA) was written in 1927; three years AFTER the death of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab, and around 20 years after the death of Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani (AS); Promised Messiah and Imam Mahdi.

3. Any quote that was associated with Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab could not be thus verified for omission of facts, background or context.

Let me now translate the quoted words of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab correctly for the benefit of readers since it is a habit of Mullahs to omit important words for their evil intentions.

"The night Hadhrat Sahib (Promised Messiah) fell ill, I had gone in my room to sleep. As soon as his illness grew severe, I was woken up. When I went to Hadhrat Sahib and saw his condition, he addressed me saying "I am suffering from cholera/Am I suffering from cholera". He did not say anything clear after that I THINK until he passed away around 10am next morning."

Notice the omission of words "I think" from the original quote by the enemies.

Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab was looking after Promised Messiah in his illness. So Promised Messiah addressed him knowing that he was looking after him in his illness and was in direct communication with his physicians. It is a common way of speech in Urdu where word "Kia" is not used before a sentence in order to turn it into a question. Promised Messiah was making an enquiry, not a statement.

Opponents of Promised Messiah take this one line from a book written 20 years after the passing away of Promised Messiah and 3 years after the death of Hadhrat Mir Nasir Nawab to draw non-factual conclusions for their evil agendas.

We will however present what was established and authenticated by the doctors themselves.

Major Dr. Sutherland; Principal Medical College Lahore, was Promised Messiah's physician in his last days. He issued a certificate confirming that his death was NOT caused by cholera rather it was due to the weakness caused by diarrhoea. All the physicians around him were in complete agreement with Dr. Sutherland's diagnosis. Dr. Cunningham; Civil Surgeon Lahore, thus signed that certificate of Dr. Sutherland to testify the authenticity of his diagnosis.

Some enemies of Promised Messiah for the purpose of causing mischief, went to the manager of Lahore train station and said to him that the death was caused due to cholera, so it must not be allowed to be transported to Qadian. It was in those days, by law of the country forbidden for a dead body to be transported to a different city if the death was caused by cholera. Station manager on hearing this refused to allow the body to be transported. This is when Hadhrat Shaikh Rahmatullah (RA) showed surgeon's certificate to the manager, who then approved the body to be shifted to Qadian. The whole incident is recorded in "Taareekh-e-Ahmadiyyat vol. 3, pg. 562".

Conclusion:

Enemies of Promised Messiah (AS) are only following the age old traditions of enemies of past prophets in every aspect of their opposition. Their claim that Promised Messiah (AS) died an accursed death is no different. History stands witness to the fact that enemies of Jesus (AS) to this day accuse him of dying an accursed death. Even the enemies of Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) accuse him of dying an accursed death as a result of poisoning. It hurts us greatly as followers of Promised Messiah to see our opponents using vile, abusive and slanderous language towards Promised Messiah. We however also understand that it is due to their utter frustration that they resort to such means. We leave the matters to our Allah.

I would like to end this answer in the words of Hadhrat Mirza Bashir Ahmad (RA) who records some final moments of the life of Promised Messiah (AS) in this world. He says:

"We could only hear these three words from the lips of Promised Messiah in his last moments:

Allah meray pyaray Allah
Translation: Allah, my beloved Allah.

We could hear nothing else from his lips.

When the time of Fajr prayer came I was standing next to Promised Messiah. He said in a weak voice:

Kia Namaaz kaa waqt ho gaya hay?
Translation: Has the time of prayer come?

One servant replied, yes Hazoor, time of prayer has come. He performed Tayyammum on hearing this and made the intention of prayer. He fell unconscious at this moment. On retaining consciousness, he again enquired: Has the time of prayer come? He performed tayyammum again and offered prayer on bed on hearing that the time of prayer had come.

Whenever he retained conciousness after that, he would repeat these words:

Allah meray pyaray Allah
Translation: Allah my beloved Allah

Hazoor took two deep breaths at around 10:30am and his soul departed from its temporary abode to the permanent one and presented itself to its Beloved.

Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilayehe Rajeoon (To Allah we belong and to Him is our return)" (Silsila-e-Ahmadiyya, pg. 183-184)

50 Vs. 5 Volumes of Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya allegation against Promised Messiah

Let us first read the allegation against Promised Messiah:

How Can You See if a Qadiani (Ahmadi) is Truthful in his Faith

Conduct this little experiment to see if a Qadiani (Ahmadi) truly believes in and adheres to the revelations and example set by his so called prophet, Mirza Ghulam Qadiani:

  1. Borrow $10,000 from him;
  2. A few days later, return $1,000 to him and claim you are even, since there is only a "dot difference" between what you borrowed and what you are returning!
  3. If he accepts the money and calls you even, he is a faithful Qadiani;
if he demands the rest, he is not following the example of his "prophet"!

Background:

Mirza Ghulam Qadiani collected a large sum of money from investors who retained his services to publish 50 (fifty) books. Mirza Ghulam only published 5 (five) books and refused to refund the advance for the remaining books! His explanation was:

"This is the same Braheen-e-Ahmadia, which has already been published in 4 (four) volumes. The fifth volume has been now published. It was earlier promised to publish 50 (fifty) volumes, but they are to be content with only 5 (five), instead of the 50 (fifty) we promised. Since there is only a dot differencebetween 5 (five) and 50 (fifty), with these 5 (five) our promise has been fulfilled."
      (Preface, Braheen-e-Ahmadia, Vol. 5, Page 7;
Preface, Roohany Khazaen, Vol. 21, Page 9)

The link to the allegation can be found here: http://www.irshad.org/info_m/testqadi.php

Response to the Allegation:

This is a prime example of the deception of opponents of Promised Messiah who do nothing but lie. They know the whole truth but hide the part that breaks the very foundations of their argument. Let's first take the issue of 50 vs. 5. Let's see if he will apply the same rule of financial transaction that he has set for Ahmadiyya Muslims on himself after reading this answer.

Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) got the prayers reduced by Allah from 50 to 5 in his experience of Miraj. This is recorded in Bukhari. On accepting the request of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Allah Almighty addressed him and said:

"These are 5 but are actually 50" (Bukhari, Kitabus Salaah)

This shows that in spiritual matters numbers do not matter. It is the purpose that matters. If 5 can fulfil the purpose of 50 then this is enough for Allah. In the same way when Promised Messiah (AS) said that the difference between 50 and 5 is only of a zero, he meant that numbers do not matter in the eyes of Allah. If the goal of 50 is achieved in 5 then this is what Allah wants from His servant.

Would this opponent of Promised Messiah (AS) apply the same rule of financial transactions on himself? If not, then he needs to explain why? Why the hypocrisy?

Now let me explain to you the true background of all this. Mullahs do nothing but lie. One can not expect to get any guidance from them. This is why we have to explain to the people as to what truly was the context of this whole thing.

It is true that Promised Messiah (AS) had initially desired to write 50 volumes of Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya to present 300 arguments in favour of Islam. This is when Allah had not appointed him yet for the purpose of ultimate victory of Islam. This is before his appointment by Allah. People were encouraged to offer donations for the purpose of publications of these books. A lot of people contributed for this great cause. Allah Almighty appointed him as Reformer of the age while he was busy writing 4th volume of Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya. God had made much greater plans for him. His mission was far greater than he had ever imagined. He was to be chosen as the one who had to bring final renaissance of Islam. It was thus not his own desire, but the Will of God that he had to postpone this work of writing Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya.

Promised Messiah (AS) writes about this in the following words:

"Initially when this book was written it was a completely different situation. Afterwards the manifestation of God on this humble being like Moses informed him of the news that he had previously no knowledge of. This humble self was travelling in dark in his own imaginations like Ibne Imran, until a voice from the unseen informed him that "Inni Anaa Rabbuka". Such secrets were revealed to me that are beyond the reach of human mind. That God Himself has now become the guardian and organiser of this book. I have no knowledge as to how far He is going to  take it. The truth is that the beauty of Islam which has already been shown in 4 volumes is also enough for completion of proof." (Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya Vol. 4, Ruhani Khazain Vol 1 Last page)

Thus since the situation changed according to the Will of Allah, Promised Messiah had to change his plans for the purpose of attaining far greater purpose.

All Muslims should know that on the basis of a dream, Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) went to perform Hajj with his companions and sacrificial animals. It was his great desire and that of his companions, to perform Hajj that year. However half way through the journey, Holy Prophet (PBUH) realised that Allah had other plans for him. They could not offer Hajj that year. On this Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is reported to have said:
"If I knew of this situation beforehand I would have not brought sacrificial animals with me" (Mishkaat, Kitaabul Hajj)

It is thus an established truth that with the change of situation, programs change as well. History proves that these changes are for the greater good of humanity. God appointed Promised Messiah for the final victory of Islam; a mission far greater than what he had ever envisaged for himself. His personal desire of writing 50 volumes was fulfilled in a far greater way by the Will of Allah. He wrote over 80 books for the purpose of proving truthfulness of Islam. He presented arguments in favour of truthfulness of Islam in such a magnificent way that is unprecedented in Islam's history. His desire of establishing Islam's truthfulness was fulfilled in an extraordinary way.

Lastly we will see if Promised Messiah (AS) ever returned money to people who complained about it or not. Truth is that Promised Messiah took every little measure in order to return money to anyone who was not happy with this. As an example to this I will present to you an advertisement that Promised Messiah wrote for this very purpose. It was called "Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya and its buyers". Promised Messiah wrote the following in it:

"Any person who has any complaints regarding this issue can contact me by post and I will
arrange for the money to be returned to them. I will delegate someone in their area to take
the books back and return them their money. I also forgive them for all their abuses and
slander upon me for the sake of Allah because I don't want anyone to be punished in the
hereafter for this. In a situation where the buyer of the book has passed away and their
children would like their money back then they can get it in the same way." (Tabligh-e-Risaalat vol. 3
page 35)

This is the reason why there remained not a single person who complained about this and
didn't get his money back. Is this what you call broken promise? No opponent of Promised
Messiah can ever bring a single case where someone demanded their money back and
didn't get it.

At the end I will draw the attention of the readers to the point that all true prophets of Allah

have been accused in the same way. Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was also not
spared by enemies in this regard. Holy Quran records it in the following words:

"Among them are the ones who accuse thee (Muhammad PBUH) in matters of alms" (Al-

Taubah Verse 57/58)

So it should not be surprising for anyone if opponents of Promised Messiah make similar
accusations against him. History continues to repeat itself. May Allah keep us on the right
path.
